With her 6130PW Knotty Pine Western Roundup Gretsch in tow, country western artist Lynda Kay Parker dons the cover of this week’s LA Weekly.
The feature story traces Parker’s winding road — from bartending at Austin’s Stubbs BBQ to acting gigs in Hollywood to performing as a one-woman band on the Venice boardwalk. Eventually, Parker decided that working with a full band was the way to go, and in November 2009, she released debut album Dream My Darling.
The album includes 12 original, fully orchestrated songs that conjure the ghosts of classic country’s past. There’s also the duet “All I Ever Wanted” with Billy Bob Thornton of The Boxmasters, who describes Parker as “Patsy Cline and Kitty Wells all rolled up into one.”
