Guitar World recently posted part two of “10 female guitarists you should know.” Making this list is pioneering gospel singer, songwriter and recording artist Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Tharpe rose to great popularity in the 1930s and 1940s with her blend of gospel music and rock and roll.
As GW notes, “No one can deny that Brian Setzer’s fancy fingerwork on his Gretsch hollowbodies is certainly a sight to behold, but it’s hard to match the sheer brilliance of the videos of Sister Rosetta Tharpe going to town on her Gibson SG and Gretsch hollowbodies.”
