Guitar World’s September issue features an in-depth article on legendary blues guitarist Rory Gallagher and some of his favorite gear, including his 1963 Gretsch Corvette.
Gallagher’s nephew Daniel recalled how his uncle acquired the Gretsch Corvette.
“The band was in Texas on a day off,” he told Guitar World. “Rory was in a guitar shop; my dad was in a pawnshop around the corner, and up in the window was this Gretsch.”
Daniel Gallagher also told the magazine that the Corvette was priced very cheaply, so much so that his uncle had some sound advice for his dad.
“He said, ‘Let’s get the hell out of here before they realize what they’ve sold you.’”
