Alejandro Escovedo Rocks Springsteen Crowd

Alejandro Escovedo was joined on stage by Bruce Springsteen during a show at the South by Southwest music festival, and the Texas-based musician helped his buddy out in return by opening for the Boss’ intimate SXSW show at the ACL Moody Theater last Thursday night.

During Springsteen’s appearance at the Escovedo show, the two played Escovedo’s “Always a Friend.”  Fellow Texas singer/songwriter Joe Ely, Escovedo and Springsteen then alternated verses during “Goin’ Down the Road Feeling Bad,” with Springsteen adding metal-esque flourishes.

At the Springsteen concert, Escovedo had an eager crowd of about 3,000 jamming along with his earnest rock and roll.

And as Springsteen wrapped up his epic two-hour plus set, Escovedo, Ely, Tom Morello, Garland Jeffreys and members of Arcade Fire and the Low Anthem all came out to perform “This Land Is Your Land” as the closer.
