British singer/songwriter George Ezra recently dropped by the famed Abbey Road studios for both a sitdown interview and to record an intimate live session.
Ezra’s live five-song set included material off his sophomore album Staying at Tamara’s, the follow-up to his critically acclaimed 2014 debut Wanted on Voyage. However, for those familiar with the new album, Ezra and company took a slightly different approach for the Abbey Road performance.
“We thought it would be a lovely thing to do where we rehearsed them up, recorded them— the arrangement is a bit stripped down, but we actually play as a band,” said Ezra. “This isn’t how they exist on the record, but it’s lovely to have stripped down versions.”
Ezra’s distinctly rich voice and Gretsch G6119-1962HT Chet Atkins Tennessee Rose tug at our heartstrings in “Hold My Girl,” while “Shotgun” takes us away on a daydream of a life in paradise.
