Gretsch G6120T-BSSMK Brian Setzer ‘Smoke’ Crowned Best ‘Semi-Solid’ by ‘Guitarist’

The sultry Gretsch G6120T-BSSMK Brian Setzer Signature Nashville® ’59 “Smoke” landed atop Guitarist magazine’s best semi-solid electrics of 2020 list.

“It’s impossible to separate Brian Setzer from his Gretsch guitars and one of the latest additions to his signature line is the replica of one of his most cherished guitars: Smoke,” wrote reviewer Dave Burrluck.

The G6120T-BSSMK recreates the design aesthetics of the original “Smoke,” including the internal trestle bracing for expanded tonal sustain.

“Under the hood this new Smoke uses the ’59-style trestle bracing that was actually X-rayed from Brian’s original,” wrote Burrluck.

Two TV Jones® Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity humbuckers in the G6120T-BSSMK deliver Setzer’s distinct snappy rockabilly swagger.

“The TV Jones Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity Filter’Trons are probably the closest to the real thing you can buy,” worte Burrluck. “These pickups are made according to Ray’s personal notes, designs and Jones’s extensive, multi-decade analysis of the original Filter’Tron pickups.”
